The purpose of the Christian Education Committee (CEC) is to assess needs of our parishioners and to develop suitable educational programs; "to see that the congregation is edified spiritually, led to Christ and led to know Him as their personal Savior."
The Armenian Church worships not only in words, but also in gestures and rituals that help us to express what we believe about God and our relationship with Him. Offering incense, standing, bowing down, kneeling, moving in processions, elevating symbols of our faith, such as the Holy Bible or Chalice…these are the active ways in which we proclaim our faith. In order to fully participate in this beautiful multi-sensory experience, knowledge of the vessels and symbols of our church is important.
For this reason, the Christian Education Committee, under Der Hayr’s guidance, has set up a series of mini lessons which will be presented to the congregation at the end of Badarak, just before final dismissal. These mini lessons will be brief…just a minute or two… and will point out various symbols of our church that are an integral part of our worship service. It is our hope that with a deeper understanding of the sights and sounds of our church, parishioners will be able to participate more fully in the worship service.
